The Edge Hill Rounders + The Hoppin’ Boxcars

 

The Edge Hill Rounders have a distinctive sound. Tim and Paul draw inspiration for their vocal harmonies from brothers like Ira and Charlie Louvin and from legendary pairings like Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman of the Flying Burrito Brothers. This is layered over bass, percussion, fiddle and guitar with a healthy dose of mandolin picking. At an Edge Hill Rounders performance you will hear original compositions, as well as some of your favorite songs and some that you don’t know but wish you had discovered a long time ago.

The Hoppin Boxcars are a multi-genre, bluegrass band of bearded HoBoes who broke into the scene in early 2016, like a freight train chugging on down the line. Their nostalgic, flavorful, foot-stompin’ original songs are considered ‘pan-genre’ as their styles include bluegrass, folk, country, rock, reggae, ska, big band, swing, blues, jazz, and even Deep South Cajun style among others. The band won the 2022 Philadelphia Bluegrass/Folk/Country Band of The Year performed at venues including the Ardmore Music Hall, the Sellersville Theater, and the Main Martin Stage of the 55th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival.
