Phillip Bennett with the Phillip Bennett Band

Phillip Bennett is a Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter who has been writing, performing, and recording since the 1970s. He performed on Chicago’s Lincoln Avenue folk and blues circuit at clubs such as The Barbarossa, The Earl of Old Town, and The Old Town School of Folk Music. He opened for John Denver at the Episcopal General Convention in Denver, 1970.

With his powerful, expressive voice and talented band, he performs music in the Americana, blues, and contemporary-folk genres.  With wit and poignancy, his songs explore the full range of human experience- love, loss, family relationships, coming out, and current political and climate dangers.  The band also performs songs by Emmylou Harris, John Prine,  Tom Waits, JD Souther,  Townes van Zandt, Leonard Cohen, and others.
